It’s been another strange week for us all and I hope you are well and adjusting to the new normal. We have seen that across the dealer community, different dealerships have approached the Covid-19 crisis in different ways, some of you have closed for the time being, some of you are still open and others have opted for a virtual showroom. 

Whatever circumstances you have found yourself in, I hope that by staying in touch Bluestone can continue to add real value and provide you with some meaningful support as we navigate our way through this uncertain time.

DO CUSTOMERS KNOW YOUR CURRENT OPERATING STATUS?

If you are still open and/or working remotely, I’ll be pulling together some more practical digital ideas in the coming days, however, to start off I hope the following proves useful.

  • First off, are your telephone lines working or on divert (obvious I know, but always worth checking)?
  • Do your social media sites provide a quick summary of your current operating status? 

Right, those two out of the way over to your website and giving it a quick and simple Covid-19 status check.

Many of your customers are at home and while changing car may not be at the top of their minds, one thing that we can be sure of, many will be surfing the web to idle the time away with a chunk of these people looking at cars,  browsing for cars is one of the most popular searches in normal times.

So, what will they find when they visit your website?

Now is the ideal time to have a look at your website and see just how good it is. Yes, there may be some technical ‘optimisation’ things that are missing, but ahead of these here are a few Covid-19 specific situations your website should feature:

  • Does the site say prominently ‘WE ARE OPEN’ with a banner referencing the current Covid-19 situation and are you providing full information on what open means, i.e. working from home, workshop open etc.?
  • Are your current online contact points all up-to-date including any mobile numbers and are you geared up to respond to them all quickly?
  • Do you provide information about your opening health and safety standards?
  • Are you offering online sales and delivery (subject to any government restrictions). If not could you, or can you hold and reserve a car/van for someone?
  • Are you highlighting prominently any local good citizen support i.e. collection and delivery of medicines for the vulnerable in your community?
